Windy Weather Alert and Rising Temperatures Ahead
Southern Colorado, USASun Mar 15 2026
A strong wind warning is in effect until 7 PM across the I‑25 corridor, Eastern Plains, and parts of the High Country. Winds are expected to reach 30–40 mph on average, with gusts that could hit up to 65 mph.
At the same time, a winter weather advisory covers portions of the High Country until 3 PM. The forecast calls for moderate to heavy snow and gusts that may reach 70 mph.
The San Luis Valley faces a red‑flag warning from 11 AM to 8 PM because of dry air and strong breezes, with possible gusts up to 55 mph.
Snow is likely in isolated pockets through the morning, then a brief dry spell will give way to more snow later that day and into the early evening. Windy conditions are expected to persist through the night, making it feel especially chilly outside. Layering clothes will help keep warm.
Tonight’s skies should clear, but temperatures will drop to the single digits or teens across Southern Colorado.
On Monday, sunny skies and mild temperatures in the 50s will bring a brief reprieve.
By Tuesday, a high‑pressure system moving in from the southwest will push temperatures into the 70s for Southern Colorado.
Midweek, the high pressure will settle over the southwest, raising temperatures into the 80s and 90s with sunny skies. This pattern is likely to continue through the rest of the week and into the weekend, raising fire‑weather concerns again.
