Wisconsin's New Committee: A Look Through the GOAT's Eyes

This: a state committee dedicated to sniffing out government inefficiencies, not unlike the federal Department of Government Efficiency. Wisconsin has just unveiled its newest committee, the Government Operations, Accountability, and Transparency Committee, or GOAT for short.
Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is leading the charge. He's excited about this committee and others starting this upcoming session. The goal? To examine those pesky inefficiencies in government and boost citizens' trust in their elected leaders.
Rep. Amanda Nedweski, also a Republican, will chair this committee. With a two-thirds majority in the assembly, the Republicans are in a strong position. Nedweski has a plan to tackle possible issues in Milwaukee Public Schools, the University of Wisconsin, the Department of Safety and Professional Services, and law enforcement.
You might remember Nedweski from her efforts to shut down a Kenosha Unified School District board meeting in 2021. She's part of Moms for Liberty, a group known for its firm stance on government involvement in education.
Now, let's talk about DOGE. President-elect Donald Trump named Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as volunteer heads of DOGE. Their job? To create a lean team of small-government advocates who'll work closely with the Office of Management and Budget.
