Fri Feb 07 2025
On a Friday morning, the rapper Ye, previously known as Kanye West, sparked controversy with a series of provocative posts on X. The 47-year-old artist started posting around 4 a. m. PT (7 a. m. ET), many of which were offensive and self-aggrandizing.
Ye's comments targeted the Jewish community. He wrote, "I love Hitler" and "I'm a Nazi. " He also wrote that Jewish people "don't run me no more. "He also wrote, "I love when Jewish people come to me and say they can't work with me anymore. " He also wrote, "I'm racist stereotypes exist for a reason and they all be true. "
Ye also had some harsh words for his wife. He wrote, “I have dominion over my wife. This ain’t no woke as feminist s---. ” He also wrote comments about Kamala Harris, saying she was "just being used for what they call the 'Black Vote. '"
Yealso wrote, "My support of Puff is completely selfish. I need to find whoever been trying to out black moguls. " Sean Combs, known as Puff Daddy, is currently in federal custody. He is being held in Brooklyn. He was indicted in the Southern District of New York in September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs has denied all the allegations against him to date, which include the federal criminal case and more than 30 civil lawsuits filed against him.
Ye's comments were not only offensive. He also wrote about his own ego. He wrote, “I am above any other celebrity that’s ever existed. I look down on them and they look up to me. ” He also wrote, “All rappers want my spot” and “every rapper living wanna be me every rapper living wish they was Ye. "
Ye's tirade was condemned by Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt.
“Here we go again. Another egregious display of antisemitism, racism and misogyny from Ye on his X account this morning. Just a few years ago, ADL found that 30 antisemitic indents nationwide were tied to Kanye’s 2022 antisemitic rants, ” Greenblatt said. “We condemn this dangerous behavior and need to call it what it is: a flagrant and unequivocal display of hate. "
Ye has a history of controversial comments. He has had his X, previously known as Twitter, account suspended at least twice in the past. The first time was in December 2022. He was suspended for posting an image that appeared to show a swastika inside a Star of David. The second time was in October 2022. He was restricted for making antisemitic comments. Adidas cut ties with him after the second incident.
