Zoo’s Easter Egg Hunt Gets a New Date

The Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth usually hosts its Easter Eggstravaganza every year during the holiday weekend. Families look forward to a full day of spring activities, but this season’s weather threw a wrench into the plans. Two winter storms were forecasted for Easter, so the zoo decided to close on Saturday, April 4—the day the event was supposed to happen. Many families who had already bought tickets felt disappointed, yet the zoo’s solution turned that frustration into excitement.
Instead of canceling, the organizers announced a new schedule. The Eggstravaganza will now take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026. It will run from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. , with an early hour—9 a. m. to 10 a. m. —reserved for zoo members. Tickets are still on sale, priced at $15 online or $20 at the gate; members enter for free. The event will feature a golden egg hunt where the winner could win a bike, along with coloring contests, games, animal enrichment displays, arts and crafts, and food trucks. Moving the date to May aims to avoid snowy weather, though spring can be unpredictable. Families who missed the original Saturday event can still plan to join the festivities on the new Sunday date.
