Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta Platforms, is looking into buying a house in Miami. The chosen spot is Indian Creek, an island that’s known as the “Billionaires Bunker. ” Other wealthy names there include Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, Jeff Bezos, Carl Icahn and Tom Brady.
Zuckerberg already owns homes in California—one near Palo Alto and another close to Lake Tahoe—as well as properties in Hawaii and Washington, D. C. It isn’t clear if the Florida purchase will be a new residence or just another addition to his real estate list.
The timing of the move comes as California debates a one‑time wealth tax that would hit billionaires on their unrealized gains. The proposal has pushed some rich investors, such as Peter Thiel and David Sacks, to leave the state.
While a Meta spokesperson declined to comment, news of Zuckerberg’s potential Florida purchase was reported earlier by the Wall Street Journal.
South Florida continues to lure tech leaders from California. In recent weeks, Google co‑founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have also bought homes there. Page’s three Miami properties cost about $190 million, and Brin is buying a home near Biscayne Bay for roughly $50 million.
Indian Creek’s golf course and strict security make it a highly exclusive community. Zuckerberg has also been seen visiting President Trump’s Mar‑a‑Lago club in Palm Beach, indicating his close ties with the former president.
California’s proposed 5% tax on net worth over $1 billion is still gathering signatures for the November ballot. The measure aims to fund health care, education and food aid, but has sparked a new pro‑business political push. A group called Building a Better California, backed by donors like Sergey Brin and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, has raised about $35 million.
