Summary

The Cambodian genocide was the systematic persecution and killing of Cambodian citizens by the Khmer Rouge under the general secretaryship of Pol Pot. It resulted in the deaths of approximately 2 million people from 1975 to 1979, around 25% of Cambodia's population in 1975.

The 1.2 million figure has, as its source states, a less than 15% chance of accuracy due to it being very low, same applies to 2.8 million figure. A widely accepted figure of 2 million is most commonly used according to source attached.
