Kokkashugi
Political ideology in Japan
Summary
Kokkashugi (国家主義), sometimes also called Shōwa Statism, was the ruling ideology of the Empire of Japan, particularly during the first decades of the Shōwa era. Developed over time following the Meiji Restoration, Kokkashugi incorporated ultranationalism, traditionalist conservatism, militarism, imperialism, and a dirigisme-based economy. Later historians have often considered the state structure that implemented these policies as Emperor-system fascism.
