Richard A. Mathies is an American chemist and academic known for his contributions to physical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy, microfluidic analytical systems, and biotechnology innovation. He is Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and served as its Dean of the College of Chemistry from 2008 to 2013.
