Serine
Amino acid
Summary
Serine (symbol Ser or S) is an α-amino acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It contains an α-amino group, a carboxyl group, and a side chain consisting of a hydroxymethyl group, classifying it as a polar amino acid. It can be synthesized in the human body under normal physiological circumstances, making it a nonessential amino acid. It is encoded by the codons UCU, UCC, UCA, UCG, AGU and AGC.

Removed 4 name-list-style attributes from cite entries that match that of "cs1 config" to exclude the article from [[Category:CS1 maint: overridden setting|Category:CS1 maint: overridden setting]]. Used lowercase "cite" template everywhere for consistency, as the majority of instances used lowercase already.
