Summary
Stuart Mark Howden is an Australian environmental scientist, whose research has focussed on climate change, agriculture, and adaptation. He is vice-chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), was director of the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions at the Australian National University until 2025, chair of the ACT Climate Change Council, and he is an honorary professor at the University of Melbourne. In 2025 he was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia for his contributions to environmental science.
