Their home field is Yokohama Stadium, located in central Yokohama. The team has been known by several names since becoming a professional team in 1950, starting with the Taiyo Whales, Taiyo Shochiku Robins, Yosho Robins, Yokohama Taiyo Whales and Yokohama BayStars before obtaining their current moniker with the purchase of the team by software company DeNA in 2011.
