It is a big deal for Billie Jean King. She has become the first woman to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the sports entertainment category. The ceremony took place on Monday, April 7, 2025, in Los Angeles.  It was a big event with friends like Magic Johnson and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Lee Curtis by her side.  King's star is the 2, 807th on the Walk of Fame. It is near the famous Hollywood and Vine intersection, right across from the historic Pantages Theater. The electronic marquee there read, "A star for a star. Congratulations Billie Jean King. "  Fans gathered on the sidewalk, taking photos and cheering.  King's wife, Ilana Kloss, was also there, snapping pictures with the rest of the crowd.

King grew up in Long Beach, about 34 miles south of Hollywood. She played tennis at the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills tennis clubs, where she would see stars like Lucille Ball and Doris Day.  Her family loved music and movies, so a trip to Hollywood was always a special treat.  King even attended Holly Hunter's star ceremony in 2008. She remembered thinking, "Oh man, this is really cool. This is unbelievable. Oh, I'm never going to get this. "  But here she is, standing on her own star.  She even invited everyone to share in her joy, saying, "Remember, my star is your star. "  It was a moment of pure joy and celebration for everyone involved.

Magic Johnson had some kind words for King. He said, "You always fight for what’s right. You lend your platform and your voice and your time and your money to bring about change. "  Johnson and King share a lot in common. They are both competitive and love to win. They also both love to help people and stand up for what is right.  The ceremony also brought together some of King's old friends from the early days of the WTA Tour, like Rosie Casals and Julie Anthony, as well as retired athletic trainer Connie Spooner.  Five-time major champion Maria Sharapova and former WTA CEO Stacey Allaster were also there.

Billie Jean King has had an incredible career.  She has won many titles and awards.  She was the grand marshal of the 136th Rose Parade in January.  She also received the Congressional Gold Medal last year.  She has truly made her mark on the world of tennis and beyond.  Her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is just another testament to her incredible legacy.  It is a reminder of her impact on the sport and her commitment to fighting for what is right.  King's star is not just a symbol of her achievements, but also of her influence and inspiration to others.  It is a beacon of hope and a reminder that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
