The Potter's House Church in Texas is going to have a new leader.  Bishop T. D. Jakes announced his decision to step down.  He will hand over the leadership to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Toure Roberts.  This change is a big deal.  It's not just about family ties.  It's about the couple's deep understanding of the church's mission and values.

The Potter's House was started by Jakes in 1996.  He began with very little.  Over the years, the church has grown.  It has become a well-known place of worship.  Jakes has been a key figure in the church and beyond.  He has been a speaker at major events.  He has also been a mentor to many.

The announcement came during a Sunday service.  Jakes spoke emotionally.  He thanked the congregation for their support.  He also expressed his gratitude for the couple taking on this role.  Sarah Jakes Roberts is a successful author and CEO.  She and her husband have been co-pastors at other churches.  They are known for their compassionate and forward-thinking approach.

This change comes after Jakes had a serious health scare.  He had a heart attack while giving a sermon.  This event might have pushed him to think about the future.  He wants to focus on bigger issues.  He wants to work on economic empowerment.  He wants to bridge gaps in the community.
