The Saints have a big decision to make. They need a new quarterback. The team has three potential candidates: Tyler Shough, Jake Haener, and Spencer Rattler. All three will compete for the starting spot. This is a big deal because the quarterback is the leader on the field. The coach, Kellen Moore, is confident that one of these players will step up during the preseason. The key will be how they handle the offense and communicate with their teammates. This isn't just about throwing the ball; it's about taking charge and owning the role.

    Tyler Shough is the newest addition. He's a rookie who impressed during his first NFL minicamp. He showed promise in competitive drills. Now, he'll join the veterans for the offseason program. Shough has a lot to prove, but he's off to a good start.  He is the 40th pick in the 2025 draft.

    Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler are familiar faces. Haener played in eight games last year, starting one. He had some good moments, but he also has room to improve. Rattler started six games as a rookie. He had more attempts and completions than Haener, but his stats weren't stellar. Both have experience, but neither has secured the starting spot.  Haener was a fourth round pick in 2023.  Rattler was a fifth round pick in 2024.

    The coach is keeping an open mind. He's aware that they might need to bring in a veteran quarterback if things don't work out. But for now, the focus is on these three. They'll have to show what they're made of in training camp and preseason games. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. The Saints need a leader, and one of these three might just be the one to step up.  The coach has seen it happen before. Dak Prescott, a rookie, became a starter right away due to an injury.  He never looked back.

    This competition is crucial. The Saints need a quarterback who can lead the team and make things happen on the field. It's not just about who has the best arm; it's about who can take control and make the right calls. The next few months will be intense, but it's all part of the game. The Saints are looking for a winner, and one of these three might just be the one to lead them to victory.
