A man was arrested after a Republican congressman claimed he was threatened and forced off the road by a man waving a Palestinian flag.  The incident happened in a Cleveland suburb.  The congressman, Max Miller, said the man threatened him and his young daughter.  The suspect, Feras S. Hamdan, surrendered to police after an arrest warrant was issued.  Hamdan's lawyer has not commented on the case.

    Miller, who is Jewish, said he was driving to work when a man in a Tesla cut him off.  The man held up a Palestinian flag and made threats against Miller and his daughter.  Miller said the man threatened to kill him and his daughter, and called him a "dirty Jew. "  Miller followed the man on the interstate and noted the license plate number.  He told the 911 dispatcher he was shaken but glad he did not use his weapon.

    The police report mentioned a horn honking during the 911 call, but no flag was found on the interstate.  The investigation is ongoing, and multiple agencies are involved.  Miller released a video saying he was relieved his daughter was not in the car and that he would continue his scheduled meetings.  He also said that threatening or assaulting legislators is not acceptable.

    This incident happened just days after two Democratic lawmakers were shot in Minnesota.  House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic leaders condemned the incident and called for a reduction in political violence.  The Capitol Police said they have a zero-tolerance policy for threats against elected officials.  They also said they quickly responded to the threat and helped arrest the suspect.

    The incident raises questions about political violence and road rage.  It is important to note that threats and violence are not the way to resolve political disagreements.  Legislators should be able to do their jobs without fear for their safety.  The public should also be able to drive without fear of being threatened or attacked.  This incident is a reminder that political rhetoric can have real-world consequences.
