Dolly Parton's rise to fame in the 1970s was nothing short of meteoric. She had already made a name for herself in the country music scene, but her pop-centric album New Harvest … First Gathering was about to take her to new heights. In 1977, she played three shows at New York's Bottom Line, an esteemed venue that drew in the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Candice Bergen, and many more. But despite her confidence in her abilities, Parton was on the brink of being scared. The crowd of celebrities was intimidating, to say the least.

As Parton took the stage, she was met with a sea of familiar faces. What would it be like to perform in front of such a high-profile audience? Would she be able to hold her own alongside rock royalty? The pressure was palpable. But as she began to sing, something remarkable happened. The crowd was just great, and Parton's stage banter won them over.

But what about the days leading up to the show? Did Parton's guitarist, Don Roth, have any insight into her pre-concert jitters? "One thing I learned a long time ago is that Dolly Parton is still very much a little girl," Roth said. "She's very uneasy in surroundings she doesn't know."
