The world premiere of "Snow White" in Hollywood was a star-studded event, but it was far from the usual red carpet extravaganza. The event was scaled back, with fewer photographers and reporters than expected. The main stars, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, walked the red carpet in style, with Zegler wearing a light pink ballgown and Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, also looking stunning. The event was held at the El Capitan Theatre, with a pre-party celebration that included plenty of fun activities for kids.

The event also featured apple-infused drinks, a nod to the fact that the legendary kid star presented Walt Disney with an honorary Oscar for the original “Snow White” in 1938.  The event was a co-branded campaign with dwarves Sneezy and Sleepy prominently featured.

    The premiere was a part of Zegler and Gadot’s promotional tour for the movie. On March 2, the pair took the stage at the Dolby Theatre to present during the Oscars. Zegler then traveled internationally with director Marc Webb to promote the film. She performed the new single “Waiting on a Wish” in Tokyo and Spain. Gadot, meanwhile, made the press rounds in NYC, appearing on several popular talk shows. The promotional run hasn’t been without its challenges, though.

    The casting of Zegler as Snow White sparked controversy due to her Colombian heritage. Some fans argued that her ethnicity disqualified her from playing the fantasy princess. The social media outrage only grew as time went on. Zegler addressed the controversy, stating that her version of Snow White wouldn’t spend her days pining over a man. She called aspects of the original story “weird” and said that the 1937 film’s prince “literally stalks” Snow White, prompting fans to deem her unworthy of playing Snow White due to her “disdain. ” Zegler later clarified her comments, stating that while Snow White wants romance, she has other goals, too.

    The movie’s portrayal of little people also sparked controversy. “Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage spoke out about the movie’s portrayal of little people, critiquing the animated “Snow White” for perpetuating negative stereotypes. Following those remarks, Disney stated that “to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community. ”

    The premiere was a mix of glamour and fun, with a touch of controversy. The event was a celebration of the movie and a chance for fans to see their favorite stars in person. The pre-party activities were a hit with kids, and the apple-infused drinks were a nod to the movie’s history. The controversy surrounding the movie’s casting and portrayal of little people added an extra layer of complexity to the event.
