In Cameroon, things are heating up as the government locks up opposition figures. Around 30 people, including politicians and activists, have been taken into custody. These individuals are connected to Issa Tchiroma, who ran against the long-time president, Paul Biya. The arrests happened just before the election results were set to be announced.

The people arrested include Anicet Ekane and Djeukam Tchameni. They are big names in their political parties and backed Tchiroma's campaign. The government says they were planning something dangerous, but Tchiroma says it's all a setup. He thinks the government is trying to silence them.

Tchiroma, who used to be on Biya's side, claims he won the election. He's not backing down and says he won't accept any other outcome. His supporters have been protesting, and clashes with the police have been getting worse.

The interior minister, Paul Atanga Nji, talked about the arrests. He said the detained people were part of a movement trying to cause trouble. But Tchiroma says the government tried to make deals with them before arresting them. He's calling the whole thing unfair.

Meanwhile, protests have been happening in several cities. People are not happy with the way things are going. Biya, who has been in power for a long time, might win again. If he does, he could stay in office for another seven years. He's already the oldest president in the world.
