Samsung is gearing up to release a new foldable phone.  A video has emerged showing a dummy model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7.  This video reveals some interesting changes that Samsung is making to its foldable design.  The Z Fold 7 is rumored to be slimmer and larger than its predecessor, the Z Fold 6.  It measures just 4. 5mm when unfolded, which is slightly thicker than earlier reports suggested.  However, it is still quite thin, making it competitive with other modern foldable phones.

    The design of the Z Fold 7 is quite similar to last year's model.  It features squared edges and a sleek metal frame.  These design elements are likely to stick around for another generation.  The phone's outer display is also getting a makeover.  It is now more in line with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is a departure from Samsung's previous designs.  This change brings the Z Fold 7 closer to the standard display shape used by rivals like OnePlus and Google.

    There are some potential downsides to this new design.  The camera module sticks out quite a bit from the back of the phone.  This could make it difficult to use the phone as a stable desktop without a case.  The volume rocker and power button are also quite slim.  It is unclear if this will cause any issues when using the phone.  However, it is something to keep in mind.

    The Z Fold 7 is expected to be unveiled at Samsung's Unpacked event in July.  So far, the leaks suggest that it could be a significant improvement over previous models.  It remains to be seen if Samsung can deliver on these promises.  The company has been the sole holdout on bringing a standard display shape to the front of its Z Fold-series.  With the Z Fold 7, it seems that Samsung is finally ready to join the rest of the industry.

    The Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a phone that many have been waiting for.  It is slimmer, larger, and more in line with modern design trends.  However, there are still some questions about its usability.  Only time will tell if Samsung has managed to address these issues.  For now, it is an exciting glimpse into the future of foldable phones.
