Mexican nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) are fighting against gender-based violence (GBV). They use social media to spread awareness.  These groups are using hashtags to build a movement.  They are using X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their messages.  This is happening during the "16 Days of Activism Against GBV" campaign.  This campaign runs from November 25 to December 10.  The campaign is held every year.

    The use of social media by these NGOs is significant.  However, there is a lack of research on the type of information they share.  There is also a lack of research on how the public engages with these messages.  This is despite the growing use of social media for activism.

    The campaign aims to raise awareness about GBV.  It also seeks to challenge the cultural norms that allow violence to continue.  The campaign is global.  It is held annually.  It starts on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.  It ends on December 10, Human Rights Day.
