Mamdani wants to make NYC more affordable, and he's got some big plans to do that. His top priority is universal free child care for all children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. That's a huge task and will cost a lot of money, but he's already got the governor on his side. He also wants to freeze rents on nearly one million apartments in the city. That's something he can do quickly, but it might not be easy to convince everyone to go along with it.

Mamdani has also promised to build 200, 000 affordable housing units over the next decade. That's a lot of homes, and it could help bring down rents for many New Yorkers. But it's a big job, and he'll need a lot of help to make it happen.

Mamdani has had some critics, and he'll need to mend fences with them if he wants to get his agenda done. Some business leaders are worried he might hurt the city's economy, and some Jewish New Yorkers have expressed concerns about his comments on Israel. But Mamdani has said he'll stand up against antisemitism and work with everyone to make NYC a better place.

Finally, Mamdani will have to set a vision for the Police Department. He once supported the "defund the police" movement, but now he's in charge of a huge police force. It's a tough job, but Mamdani is ready to take it on.
