The world of women's sports is getting a serious boost.  Alexis Ohanian, a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of Reddit, has made a big splash by investing in women's soccer.  He bought a piece of Chelsea FC Women, a top team in England.  This move is part of a bigger trend where more people are putting money into women's sports.  Why the sudden interest?  Because there's a lot of potential and room for growth.

Ohanian's journey into women's sports started with a conversation with his wife, Serena Williams.  She tried to steer him away from the idea because of her own experiences with the challenges in women's sports.  But Ohanian saw this as an opportunity.  He believed that the reluctance to invest was a sign that there was a lot of room for improvement and innovation.

Women's sports have often been seen as a charity case.  But Ohanian wants to change that.  He sees women's sports as a great investment opportunity.  He thinks that with the right support, women's sports can thrive and become a major player in the sports world. Ohanian has been working on this for a while.  He was one of the first investors in Angel City FC, a women's soccer team in Los Angeles.  He also started Athlos, a women's-only track and field event.  His goal is to support not just the teams, but the entire infrastructure of women's sports.  He wants to show that women's sports can be just as successful and exciting as men's sports.

Chelsea FC Women is a great example of this.  They have won six consecutive titles and have gone 22 games without losing.  Ohanian thinks that with the right support, teams like Chelsea can become billion-dollar franchises.  He sees a lot of potential and believes that there's still a lot of work to be done.  But he's optimistic about the future of women's sports.
