    The fear was palpable.  Students huddled together, their minds racing with memories of the past.  Brianna Jade Freedland, another survivor, took shelter in the gym with her roommate.  She remembered the terror of hiding under her teacher's desk during the Parkland shooting.  The anxiety and fear from that day came rushing back as she saw her peers crying and shaking, sending goodbye messages to their parents.

    For these students, the trauma of Parkland was far from over.  They had to relive the horror, the uncertainty, and the sheer terror of not knowing if they would make it out alive.  The shooting at FSU was just another stark reminder of the gun violence that plagues the United States.  It was the sixth mass shooting in Florida and the 81st in the country in 2025 alone.

    The aftermath was a mix of relief and lingering fear.  Students were escorted out of the buildings, their hands raised in the air, a stark image of the chaos they had just endured.  The survivors of Parkland, now students at FSU, were forced to confront their past and the reality of gun violence in America.

    The experience left a deep impact.  Badiner, who graduates in May, expressed her frustration.  She believed that changes could be made to ensure safer environments for students.  The trauma of reliving such a horrific event was a harsh reminder of the need for action.  The survivors of Parkland, now at FSU, had to face their fears again.  They had to find the strength to move forward, even as the echoes of the past lingered.
