Trump's attacks on musicians like Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Oprah Winfrey echo Nixon's tactics.  Trump's criticisms are public and often personal, targeting not just the musicians' politics but also their appearance and intelligence.  The latest incident began when Springsteen criticized the Trump administration during a performance in England.  Trump responded with a barrage of insults and a vague threat about what might happen to Springsteen upon his return to the U. S.  Trump has also accused these musicians of accepting illegal campaign payments, despite there being no evidence to support these claims.  The use of political power to target critics is a troubling trend.  It raises questions about freedom of speech and the role of artists in society.  Musicians have long been a voice for social and political change.  When politicians try to silence them, it is a sign of a deeper problem.
