A group of 15 Democratic governors has formed the Governors Public Health Alliance. Their goal? To put science back at the center of public health decisions. This isn't just about politics. It's about making sure people can trust the information they get about their health.

For a while now, science has been treated like a political tool. Some leaders have ignored experts. They've silenced scientists who disagree with them. This has made it hard for people to know who to trust. The new alliance wants to change that.

The alliance has brought in scientists and public health officials to advise them. This is a good start. But will they be able to work together? And will they be able to make decisions based on science, not politics?

One big problem is that not all governors are on board. Republican governors have not joined the alliance. But health isn't a political issue. Diseases don't care about party lines. To earn the public's trust, the alliance needs to be open and honest. They should share data, even when it's not convenient. They should work with healthcare workers. Doctors and nurses are often more trusted than government officials. They should also set up a team to quickly correct false information.

If the alliance can do these things, it will show that it's about protecting people, not politics. This is important in a time when science is under attack. The alliance is a chance to prove that facts and evidence should guide public health decisions.
