When Ian Hunter joined, the band became Mott the Hoople, and Ralphs contributed to their early success with songs like "Rock and Roll Queen. " However, creative differences led Ralphs to leave the band in 1973.

After leaving Mott the Hoople, Ralphs teamed up with Paul Rodgers, forming Bad Company. Their debut album, featuring the hit "Can't Get Enough, " topped the Billboard charts. Ralphs' guitar work and songwriting were central to the band's success, and his contributions are still celebrated today.

Despite Bad Company's success, Ralphs took a step back from touring in the 1990s to care for his ailing father.
