Jack Betts, a seasoned actor known for his role in the 2002 film Spider-Man and numerous Western movies, has passed away at the age of 96. He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Los Osos, California, on a recent Thursday.

    Betts was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on April 11, 1929, and grew up in Miami. He pursued a career in acting, studying theater at the University of Miami. His journey took him to New York City, where he made his Broadway debut in 1953. He was given a three-year scholarship to study at The Actors Studio, a renowned acting school, after helping a friend with an audition.

    Betts' film career began in 1959 with The Bloody Brood. He gained recognition in the Western genre, appearing in over a dozen Spaghetti Westerns throughout the 1970s. His television career was equally impressive, with roles in popular daytime soaps like General Hospital and The Young and the Restless. He also appeared in notable TV shows such as Gunsmoke, Seinfeld, and Friends.

    In Spider-Man, Betts played Henry Balkan, the Oscorp Technologies board chairman who famously tells Norman Osborn, "You're out, Norman. " This line sets the stage for Osborn's transformation into the Green Goblin. Betts' filmography also includes Falling Down, Batman Forever, and Gods and Monsters.

    Betts' personal life was marked by strong friendships and family ties. He shared a home with Everybody Loves Raymond star Doris Roberts from the late 1980s until her death in 2016. He leaves behind his nephew, Dean Sullivan, nieces Lynne and Gail, and his sister, Joan, who will turn 100 in November.
