As National Geographic ventures into the realm of immersive virtual reality, its latest endeavor brings the breathtaking landscapes of Iceland to life. The network's first-ever immersive experience for the Apple Vision Pro, featuring Thingvellir National Park, is a groundbreaking achievement. Imagine yourself standing amidst pristine white snow, towering rock formations, and a clear blue sky, or under the stars on a clear night. Sounds magical? You can now relive this enchanting experience courtesy of Disney+, which has also added 3D versions of The Avengers, The Age of Ultron, and the first two Ant-Man movies to its platform.

Does this mean we're witnessing the dawn of a new era in immersive storytelling? Not quite. Disney+ is still working on building its 3D library, but National Geographic's venture into the Vision Pro is a promising development. Apple's headset has struggled to deliver truly immersive experiences, with the exception of the "Encounter Dinosaurs" demo and Marvel's What If...? Perhaps Nat Geo will reconfigure its existing VR projects or adapt the innovative helmet projection view from One Strange Rock to make the most of the Vision Pro.

But what if we're missing the bigger picture? Have we forgotten that there's so much more to Iceland's majesty than just virtual snow and rock formations? What about the country's rich cultural heritage, its vibrant cities, or the resilience of its people?
