However, opinions are split on whether his policies are strengthening or weakening the U. S. 's global standing.

        The President's use of executive orders is under fire.  51% of people think he's overstepping by setting too much policy this way.  Only 27% think he's doing the right amount.  The public is also divided on the administration's tariff increases and cuts to federal departments.  59% disapprove of the tariffs, while 39% approve.  As for the cuts, 55% disapprove, and 44% approve.

        The administration's actions are facing legal challenges.  Most people think the administration should follow a federal court's ruling if it deems an action illegal.  This sentiment is bipartisan, with 91% of Democrats and 65% of Republicans agreeing.  However, there are wider partisan differences in evaluations of the President's overall job performance and key policies.  Republicans largely approve, while Democrats largely disapprove.  The public is also concerned about the administration's approach to governing.  Some see it as careless or authoritarian, while others appreciate the President's promise-keeping and action-taking.

        The Republican Party is currently viewed more favorably than the Democratic Party.  This is a shift from recent years, with the GOP's favorable view rising to 43%.  The Democratic Party's view is little changed, with 38% expressing a favorable view.

        The public's views on the administration's actions are complex and varied.  Some actions are praised, while others are criticized.  The President's job approval rating is on par with his first term and lower than other recent presidents at this point.  The public's economic outlook has turned more negative, and confidence in the President's economic handling has declined.
