This money will be used to fund radar systems, anti-tank mines, vehicle repairs, and a large number of drones. The UK's total pledge for the year stands at 4. 5 billion pounds. This support is crucial as Ukraine faces ongoing threats from Russian forces. In recent months, Russian forces have intensified their attacks, dropping thousands of glide bombs and launching hundreds of one-way attack drones daily. The UK's defense secretary highlighted that a significant portion of battlefield casualties are now caused by drones.

The support comes as defense ministers from 50 nations gathered in Brussels for the 27th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. The US defense secretary joined the meeting remotely, expressing appreciation for the allies' efforts. The gathering underscored the continued commitment of European nations to support Ukraine in the face of ongoing conflict. The ministers acknowledged that there is no sign of the war ending soon, despite previous promises of a ceasefire.
