Congo has reached a significant turning point in its battle against Ebola. The last patient from the recent outbreak has been discharged, and no new cases have been reported since September 25. This is a big deal because it means the country is now in a 42-day waiting period. If no new cases pop up during this time, the outbreak will officially be over.

The outbreak started on September 4 in the Bulape health district of Kasai province. It's been a tough fight, with 64 cases in total—53 confirmed and 11 probable. Sadly, 43 people lost their lives, but 19 made it through, including the last patient who was recently released.

This outbreak was the first in Kasai in 18 years, and it was especially hard to tackle because of the poor road networks. But health workers didn't give up. They worked hard to detect and isolate cases early, which is key to stopping Ebola from spreading.

Ebola is a serious illness that spreads through contact with bodily fluids of infected people or contaminated materials.
