A beach hazard statement is in place, warning of dangerous conditions from Saturday morning to Tuesday early hours. Massive waves, rip currents, and sneaker waves up to 20 feet tall are expected, thanks to a long-period northwesterly swell. Experts advise staying out of the water to avoid these hazardous conditions.

Inland, the weather is looking up. Sonoma and Napa counties can expect mostly clear skies on Halloween night, with temperatures dropping into the upper 50s and 60s after sunset. Light winds will make for a comfortable evening, cool enough for a jacket. The weekend is looking warm, with highs in the 70s to near 80 and overnight lows in the 40s to low 50s.

But don't put away the rain gear just yet. A storm system is brewing and is expected to hit the North Bay by Tuesday. Light rain may start Tuesday morning, with heavier showers moving in Tuesday night into Wednesday. This storm could bring 1 to 3 inches of rain and winds of 15 to 30 mph, tapering off by Wednesday night.

While the Halloween weather is ideal for trick-or-treating, it's important to remember that the coast is not safe for swimming or other water activities. Always follow safety guidelines and never turn your back to the ocean. The weekend warmth is a welcome change, but the incoming storm is a reminder that weather can change quickly.
