Santino Casio, a 42-year-old inmate, is currently facing scrutiny for allegedly stabbing rapper Tory Lanez in prison. This incident occurred in the early hours of May 12, at around 7:20 a. m. PT, within a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Casio is no stranger to the legal system, having been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole back in 2004. His criminal record is extensive, including charges for second-degree murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Casio's troubles didn't end with his initial sentence. While already serving time, he was hit with additional charges. In 2008, he received six more years for assaulting another inmate with a deadly weapon. A decade later, he was sentenced to two more years for possessing and manufacturing a deadly weapon behind bars. This pattern of behavior raises questions about the effectiveness of the prison system in rehabilitating inmates.  It seems that Casio's time in prison has not deterred him from committing violent acts.

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. This incident happened back in July 2020, after a party at Kylie Jenner's house. Megan testified that Lanez fired at her feet and shouted "dance b---" as she walked away. She also claimed that Lanez tried to bribe her with $1 million to keep quiet. Despite undergoing surgery to remove bullet fragments, Megan has been vocal about her ordeal. She even obtained a five-year restraining order against Lanez, highlighting the ongoing harassment she faced even after his incarceration.

The stabbing incident involving Lanez is under investigation by the California Correctional Institution and the Office of the Inspector General. The Kern County District Attorney's Office is awaiting a formal complaint before deciding on any charges. Meanwhile, Lanez's team confirmed that he was stabbed over 10 times, with injuries to his back, torso, head, and face. He was rushed to a hospital in Bakersfield, where he underwent treatment for collapsed lungs and was placed on a breathing apparatus. Despite the severity of his injuries, Lanez is reportedly in good spirits and recovering.

This incident sheds light on the broader issue of violence within the prison system. It also raises questions about the safety of high-profile inmates and the measures in place to protect them.
