A Festive Twist on Crime and Redemption
LondonFri Nov 28 2025
In the heart of London, during the bustling holiday season, two unlikely allies come together for a daring plan. Sophie, a young woman from Philadelphia, has moved to the UK to be closer to her ailing mother. She works at Sterling's Department Store, where her Robin Hood-like tendencies often get her into trouble. Meanwhile, Nick, a former convict, is trying to rebuild his life after a wrongful conviction. He works at an electronics repair shop and is determined to clear his name.
One day, Nick catches Sophie on camera stealing from the store. Instead of turning her in, he sees an opportunity. He approaches Sophie with a plan to rob the store's owner, Maxwell Sterling, a man both of them have reasons to dislike. Sophie initially refuses, but when she learns about the high cost of her mother's treatment, she agrees to join Nick's scheme.
Their partnership is anything but smooth. Sophie's grandfather taught her tricks of the trade, but neither of them is a seasoned criminal. Their attempts to gather information lead to some awkward and humorous situations, including a Santa-themed party and a high-end charity gala. At the gala, Nick surprisingly charms Maxwell's wife, Cynthia, who joins their plot against her husband.
The movie, directed by Michael Fimognari, is a mix of crime and comedy. It's not your typical Christmas film, with its darker tone and less familiar holiday music. The chemistry between the leads, Olivia Holt and Connor Swindells, is charming, even if it doesn't set the screen on fire. The supporting cast adds depth to the story, making up for the somewhat predictable plot.
In the end, their plan comes together in a thrilling climax. The real reward isn't a romantic ending, but seeing the villain get his comeuppance. It's a satisfying conclusion to a festive tale of crime and redemption.
