A Local Favorite Bids Adieu After Two Decades
Sioux City, USASat Sep 27 2025
After more than 20 years of serving up Southwestern, Cajun, and Creole flavors, Rebos, a beloved restaurant on Sioux City's Historic Fourth Street, has permanently closed its doors. The announcement came via a heartfelt Facebook post, expressing gratitude to the community for their unwavering support over the years.
Rebos first opened its doors on April 25, 2005, under the ownership of Brian Rees. The restaurant was initially housed in the former Bread Basket location. The name "Rebos" was inspired by Rees' brother's nickname, adding a personal touch to the establishment.
The Rees family has deep roots in the local food scene. Brian's grandfather, Carl, owned Carl's Mouse Trap, and his grandmother, Zena, ran the Harbor Inn. This family legacy played a significant role in shaping Brian's passion for the restaurant business.
In 2010, Rebos expanded its reach by opening a location in Arnolds Park, Iowa. Four years later, the main Sioux City restaurant moved to a larger space at 1107 Fourth St. This move was driven by the need for more room, as the original location had become too cramped.
The closure of Rebos marks the end of an era for many locals who have enjoyed its unique cuisine and warm atmosphere. While the decision to close was not easy, it signifies a new chapter for the Rees family and the community.
