Some believe they’ve just moved to dating apps. A Millennial mentioned that a good pick-up line on an app can be a fun way to start a conversation. She even defended pick-up lines, saying they can be a lighthearted icebreaker if done right. Even Racing NSW is trying to bring pick-up lines back with a competition for their Golden Mingle event. They’re asking people to share their best pick-up lines for a chance to win $10, 000. But will these lines actually work on the thousands of young women attending the event? Only time will tell. So, are pick-up lines dead? Not completely, but they’re definitely on the decline. And so far, nothing better has come along to replace them. Unless you think “Are you up? ” is the way to go.
