Dallas saw a different kind of Christmas this year. With temperatures soaring to a record high, people flocked to Klyde Warren Park. For many, it was a chance to enjoy the outdoors in shorts and t-shirts. Salik Tauqir and his son took advantage of the weather. They spent their day playing football and catching up. Tauqir couldn't believe his luck. "Perfect weather, " he said. "Breezy and warm. What more could you ask for? " Gloria McKey and her children were new to Dallas. They moved from Philadelphia and were thrilled with the weather. "No coats, no rain, just sunshine, " McKey said. Her kids were happy too, running around in shorts. Cheryl McKenzie and her daughter Brenda Shelton made their annual Christmas visit to the park. McKenzie, originally from Indianapolis, was glad to avoid the snow. "Let Indiana keep its snow, " she laughed. "We're happy here. "
Shelton brought her mini poodle, Chance, and a tripod for selfies. "This is our fifth Christmas here, " she said. "We love the family-friendly vibe. Dogs, food trucks, and Italian ice—it's perfect. " Not everyone was thrilled with the warm weather. Ararceli Soto wished for a white Christmas. "It's too hot, " she said. Ana Clara, visiting from Brazil, agreed. "We wanted snow, " she said. Mitch Slape and his family live near the park. They walked over to take pictures by the tree. Slape's family had mixed feelings about the weather. "A bit cooler would be nice, " he said. "It's unseasonably warm. Freaky. " Despite the mixed feelings, the park was full of life. People enjoyed the food trucks, the trees, and the company. It was a Christmas like no other.
