Costco Cold Medicine Recall: A Closer Look
Midwest, Southeast, USAMon Jan 06 2025
Finding out that the cold medicine you bought might be contaminated. That's what happened to some Costco customers who purchased Kirkland Signature's Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion. The problem? It could contain foreign materials. The recall, announced on Costco's website, affects a specific lot code, P140082, sold in the Midwest and Southeast. Customers who bought it between October 30 and November 30, 2024, are advised to return it for a refund. The manufacturer, LNK International Inc. , can be contacted for more info.
Last month, the same medicine was recalled by the FDA for a different issue. The ingredient oral phenylephrine was found ineffective as a nasal decongestant, raising health concerns. Dr. Marc Siegel, a medical analyst, explained that this chemical can cause heart problems at high doses. The December recall involved boxes with lot numbers P139953 or P139815, expiring in August 2026.
This recall emphasizes the importance of checking product recalls and understanding what's in our medicine. It's always better to be safe and informed.
