In 1991, a massive snowstorm ruined trick-or-treating plans for nine-year-old me and my friends. It was scary to see the snow piling up to my shoulders, making it unsafe to go out. But there was a cool solution: the Burnsville Mall offered indoor trick-or-treating. It was a unique idea back then, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. I ended up with a ton of candy! The highlight of my night was my costume: Hannibal Lecter. My dad got creative and made a Silence of the Lambs-style mask and a straitjacket. He even pushed me around the mall on a hand-truck. It was an awesome experience, and I wish we had photos to show!
Fast forward to this year, and the weather forecast isn't looking great either. There could be up to three inches of snow mixed with rain, which makes outdoor trick-or-treating challenging. Don't let the weather spoil the fun! Crossroads Center in St. Cloud is hosting a Mall-O-Ween event. From 4 to 7 p. m. , you can trick-or-treat indoors. There are also other fun activities like Halloween crafts from 3 to 7 p. m. , balloon sculpting from 3 to 6 p. m. , and caricature drawings from 4 to 6 p. m. Indoor trick-or-treating is a great alternative. It keeps kids safe and happy, even when the weather isn't cooperating. Plus, it's a unique experience that creates lasting memories. So, bring the party indoors this Halloween!
