The holiday season is a time when many people feel joy and gratitude. It's a time to celebrate with loved ones, exchange gifts, and enjoy decorations. But what do people like most about this time of year? A recent survey shows that spending time with family and friends tops the list. When families gather, they often talk about themselves. Many prefer sharing family stories and catching up on each other's lives rather than discussing current events or politics. Health, news, entertainment, and sports are also popular topics of conversation. However, politics is less likely to come up, even though about half of the people surveyed think it might still be discussed.
The survey also found that people feel different emotions during the holidays. Some feel happy and grateful, while others feel exhausted or stressed. Interestingly, those who feel exhausted or stressed appreciate having time off the most. The survey was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 2, 267 U. S. adults. It aimed to reflect the diverse population of the country, considering factors like gender, age, race, and education. The margin of error for the survey is ±2. 5 points.
