A new food hall, called Gather Cola, is set to make its debut in Columbia's BullStreet District.
This isn't just about food. It's about creating a vibrant space where people can come together and enjoy a variety of local food vendors, shops, and entertainment options.
The project will span over 32, 000 square feet, offering not just a place to eat, but also a community gathering space.
"This is more than just a food hall. It's a gathering place for the community, " said Mack Cross, managing principal of Four Oaks Property Group.
The food hall will feature a diverse mix of local vendors, retail spaces, and office areas. There will be plenty of seating and gathering spaces for people to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family.
The project is a collaboration between Cason Development Group, Four Oaks Property Group, and Hughes Development Corp. They have been discussing the idea of bringing a food hall to Columbia for years.
Patrick DiMarco, a development associate with Cason Development Group, believes that Gather Cola will significantly enhance the city's culinary and social scene.
"We've put together a fantastic team to create this project, " he said. "It's going to change the landscape of Bull Street in Columbia. "
The food hall is modeled after the successful Gather GVL in Greenville but will offer additional features, such as three small retail bays.
"We're really looking at this as a small-scale mix of uses, " Cross said. "It's an evolution of the concept. "
The project is set to begin construction later this month, with plans to open by the end of the year.
"We're excited to bring this community gathering place to Columbia, " Cross said. "We believe it will be an authentic Columbia food experience. "
The food hall is looking to fill its space with local businesses.
"We want to highlight Columbia people who love what they do, " said Holly Buxton, development associate for leasing with Cason Development. "We want to share that passion with the community. "
Cross hopes that families and friends will take full advantage of the space.
"It will be an amazing place to spend time with people you care about, " he said. "That's what it's all about. Putting the phones down, having real conversations, having a shared experience with food and the community. "
