Greenwich Entertainment has snagged the U. S. distribution rights for Durga Chew-Bose's first film, "Bonjour Tristesse". This movie is based on a famous 1950s novel of the same name by Françoise Sagan. The film had its big debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The cast includes some big names like Chloë Sevigny from "Feud: Capote vs The Swans", Claes Bang from "The Square", and newcomer Lily McInerny from "Palm Trees and Power Lines".
The story revolves around a teenage girl named Cécile who spends her summer on the French coast with her charming father and his girlfriend. Things take a turn when her late mother's friend Anne arrives. Cécile's world starts to crumble, and she tries to regain control, but her actions lead to tragic consequences.
Chew-Bose has been making waves in the industry. She's even been named one of Variety's 10 Directors to Watch for 2025. This film is definitely one to look out for!
While the Native American Media Alliance is celebrating its 6th Annual Animation Lab, honoring Indigenous artists and their unique stories, the Visual Effects Society is recognizing Dr. Jacquelyn Ford Morie's contributions to visual arts and technology with the Georges Méliès Award. Also, a documentary called "Zurawski v Texas" will be screened at the Napa Valley Film Festival, telling the story of 43 women standing up for their reproductive rights.
