Top Performers from Cumberland County
This week, the spotlight is on the top eight performers from Cumberland County. With football games scheduled on Tuesday and Saturday nights, the competition is fierce. Here are the nominees for the 910Preps Athlete of the Week for October 13-18.
Soccer
- Emerson Alvarado (Seventy-First soccer)
- Led his team to a perfect 2-0 week
Scored four goals and racked up nine points
- Kwabena Asante (Village Christian soccer)
Made a significant impact with a hat trick in the first round of the NCISAA 2A State playoffs against St. Thomas More
- Mac Teachey (Terry Sanford soccer)
- Contributed with two goals and an assist
- Totaled five points in a win over Scotland
Football
- Ahmad Carmichael (South View football)
Scored two touchdowns and made 10 tackles despite playing two games
- Cristian Simmons (South View football)
Scored five touchdowns and gained 332 rushing yards in two games
- Landon Underwood (Cape Fear football)
- Continued his impressive season with three touchdowns in a 50-21 victory against Gray's Creek
Cross Country
- Zoe Dorsey (Terry Sanford cross country)
- Secured the girls Tri-County conference championship
Impressive time of 20:47.86 in the 5000-meter race
- Sophia Hernandez (Jack Britt cross country)
- Claimed the girls Mid South conference championship
- Time of 19:57.38 in the 5000-meter run
