Monsters on a Mission: DC's New Animated Series
New York, USASun Oct 20 2024
Ever thought about a squad of incarcerated monsters saving the world? Well, DC has! James Gunn, the mastermind behind "Guardians of the Galaxy, " is bringing his unique flavor to the DC Universe with "Creature Commandos. " This seven-episode adult animated series, premiering on Max, follows a secret team of monsters recruited for missions too dangerous for humans.
The trailer, released at New York Comic Con, introduces the team: The Bride, Frankenstein, Dr. Phosphorus, Weasel, Nina Mazursky, G. I. Robot, and their handler, Rick Flag Sr. Voiced by an impressive cast, including Viola Davis and David Harbour, these creatures are not your average heroes. They're violent and in need of therapy, as Nina Mazursky jokes.
Gunn, a fan of the comic characters, started writing the script before he was even hired as the head of DC. He chose actors who could potentially play these roles in live-action as well. The series references other DC characters but is designed to be accessible to newcomers.
Gunn wants viewers to enjoy "Creature Commandos" without needing to watch other DC shows first. He's also working on other DC projects like the second season of "Peacemaker" and a Superman movie.
"Creature Commandos" promises a splatter of action and humor, premiering December 5 on Max. Get ready to meet your new, monstrous heroes!
