New App Pairs Family to Help Men Manage Liver Health
Seoul, Republic of KoreaSat Oct 31 2026
Chronic liver disease affects many middle-aged men, especially those with metabolic risk factors. Staying healthy over the long term can be tough when self-care habits aren't solid. Many people in this group struggle to keep up with lifestyle changes on their own.
Researchers in Seoul launched a pilot test to see if a phone-based app could help. The study recruited 82 men aged 40 to 64 who had liver issues for at least half a year and at least one metabolic concern. The group was split so 41 tried the new family-backed approach while the other 41 followed standard care.
The new method adds family members to the coaching process, aiming to make lifestyle shifts more sustainable. After several weeks, the team will check how usable the app felt and whether patients or their families noticed any changes in health habits. The goal is to learn if this kind of support can work in real life.
