In a recent turn of events, the NYPD has revealed that a gun found in Pennsylvania, belonging to suspect Luigi Mangione, matches the shell casings discovered at the Manhattan crime scene where UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot. This important piece of evidence places Mangione at the center of the investigation.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch also confirmed that Mangione's fingerprints, taken after his arrest in Pennsylvania, match those found on a water bottle and a snack bar at the crime scene. This additional forensic connection strengthens the case against Mangione.
Police had earlier mentioned that the suspected gunman had visited a Starbucks before the shooting. Items bought there, including a water bottle and some protein bars, were later found discarded and collected as evidence. These seemingly trivial items have now become crucial in tying Mangione to the crime.
