The Sudden Departure

The University of North Texas Health Science Center recently said goodbye to its president, Sylvia Trent-Adams. She was in the role for over two years before stepping down. The news came with a twist. The university is going to pay her $560, 000 as per a mutual agreement. The exact reasons for her resignation remain a mystery. The university mentioned personal reasons but did not provide any details. The university has been under the spotlight for the past year. It turned out that the school's body donation program for research and training was not always respectful. They used bodies without proper consent or approval from family members. It mostly affected Black, male, and mentally ill individuals, as well as the homeless. This was a big deal. The university first tried to justify the actions. Then, when the findings were revealed, it immediately suspended the program and offered apologies. The program started way back under the leadership of Michael R. Williams. It's important to note that the separation agreement was signed by Williams, who is now the chancellor of the university system. The agreement clearly stated it was not an admission of wrongdoing. The university is now moving forward with an interim president, Kirk Calhoun, who previously led the University of Texas at Tyler.
