A group of veterans in Long Beach are discovering a new path to healing and camaraderie through the Stand Up and Play Foundation's monthly golf program.
The program, held at the Old Ranch Practice Center in Seal Beach, offers adaptive equipment and a supportive environment for veterans with physical disabilities and PTSD. The program aims to provide a space for veterans to connect with each other and find a renewed sense of purpose.
For those with mobility challenges, Stand Up and Play provides adaptive equipment and instructors, ensuring that everyone can participate. The program has been life-changing for many veterans, including Thomas King, a Vietnam Army veteran who lost his sight. With the help of the program's instructors, King was able to hit a few balls and regain his confidence.
