Athena
Ancient Greek goddess
Summary
Athena or Athene, often given the epithet Pallas, is an ancient Greek goddess associated with wisdom, warfare, and handicraft who was later syncretised with the Roman goddess Minerva. Athena was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, from which she most likely received her name. Her major symbols include owls, olive trees, snakes, and the gorgoneion. In art, she is generally depicted wearing a helmet and holding a spear.

/* Etymology */ removed reference to Athena’s name coming from Athens from picture caption because it is the topic of the article text directly adjacent to the illustration and therefore highly duplicated. Plus the name origin has nothing to do with what building is shown in illustration.

/* */ Removed a sentence about the Parthenon being dedicated to her because three sentences later in the next paragraph, two sentences with more overall information cover the same information. The information is still in intro and fully embedded with discussion of the Athenian/Athena link.

Needs sourcing. There are lots of things named after well-known Greek mythological figures, and many of them do not need to be mentioned at the pages for those figures
