A well-known Broadway performer has faced a lot of criticism for comments made about two of her fellow actors.  This performer has since apologized for her actions. One of the actors, who had won a Tony for her performance in the musical, criticized the performer's actions.  She called them "racially microaggressive" and "rooted in privilege. "

The performer's interview also included disparaging comments about both actors.  She referred to one actor as a "bitch" and suggested that the actor had no right to call herself a Broadway "veteran. "  She also made negative comments about the other actor's support of the first actor.  The second actor had responded to the first actor's criticism with supportive emojis.  The performer suggested that any rift between them was one-sided.

The performer's apology came after a lot of backlash from the theater community.  The open letter addressed to the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League called for the performer to be disinvited from the Tony Awards.  The letter was signed by many prominent members of the Broadway community, including Tony-winning actors.  The performer agreed with the content of the letter, noting that theater has always been about lifting each other up and welcoming those who feel they don’t belong anywhere else.  She also stated that she made a mistake and that she was committed to making things right.

The controversy has sparked a conversation about respect and inclusivity in the theater community.
